Nixon-Eisenhower Banana Bread

1 stick butter, softened
1 c. sugar
3 eggs
3-1/2 c. flour
4 tsp baking powder
2 tsp salt
3 very ripe, medium bananas pureed
1-1/2 c. chopped walnuts

Preheat oven to dg325.  Grease 2 9- by 5-inch loaf pans.  Lightly dust
with flour.

In large bowl cream butter with sugar.  Beat in eggs, one at a time,
beating well after each addition.

Sift together flour, baking powder and salt.  Fold into egg mixture.

Fold in bananas and nuts.

Divide batter evenly between prepared pans.  Smooth tops.

Bake 40 minutes or until tops are golden brown and tests done.  Cool
on wire racks before removing from pans and slicing to desired
thickness.

Makes 2 loaves.
