Forgive And forget?

I was impressed when my friend told me of an unusual family that he met. The
parents had three children of their own yet, in an effort to help orphans,
adopted 11 children from different ethnic backgrounds. They raised their huge
family on a farm and everything went well.

My brother asked the mother an interesting question: "What is the most
important lesson you learned in all those years?"

Her answer speaks volumes. Without any hesitation, she said, "To forgive and
forget."

Isn't this a level of love we should all try to achieve?

I can forgive, but I cannot forget, is only another way of saying, I will not
forgive. Henry Ward Beecher

To forgive is to set a prisoner free and discover that the prisoner was you.
Lewis B. Smede

"Forgive and forget" is a familiar cliché, but what does it really mean?
Forgiving is relatively easy for most of us once we see that we're only going
to burn ourselves by seeking revenge. But it is not so easy to forget.

What if we replaced the word forgetting with letting go? Because that is what
forgetting really means. Letting go of our hard feelings, of our grudges, and
our animosity. This will allow us to reestablish communication and mend a
damaged relationship.

It will also allow us to move on and be aware of the lesson learned, which
alone makes the gift of "forgiving and forgetting" worthwhile.

Have you been hurt recently? Open the communication channels and Forgive and
Forget.

It's the best way to find peace in your life.
