Bea's  Chocolate  Syrup  Brownies

1      cup           flour
1/4  teaspoon      baking powder
1/2  cup           butter
1      cup           sugar
2      eggs
3/4  cup           chocolate syrup
3/4  cup           chopped pecans
1      teaspoon      vanilla

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Mix flour and soda together.
 Cream butter.
Add sugar, gradually beating until light and fluffy.
Add eggs (one at a time) beating well after each addition.  Add dry ingredients 
alternately
with syrup.  Add nuts and vanilla.  Beat until well blended.  Spoon into a
9 inch square pan.  Bake for 40 to 50 minutes or until done.  Recipe may
be doubled for a 9 x 13 pan.
