INDIVIDUAL SCHAUM TORTES
   8 egg whites
   1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
   2 cups sugar
   1 teaspoon vanilla
   1 teaspoon vinegar
   2 quarts fresh strawberries, sliced, sweetened,
   2 cups heavy cream; whipped, sweetened
   Beat
 egg whites with electric mixer at high speed until frothy. Add cream of tartar.
Beat until egg whites are almost dry. Slowly add sugar, 2 tablespoons at a time,
beating well after each addition. Add vanilla and vinegar, beat 2 minutes. 
(mixture
should be very stiff and glossy). Drop mixture by spoonfuls onto greased baking 
sheets,
making 10 tortes. Bake in 250 degree f oven 1 hour 15 minutes or until pale 
brown
and crusty. Remove from baking sheets; cool on racks. Spoon strawberries over 
each
torte and top with whipped cream.
