Warcake
1 package raisins, large, seeded
2 cups hot water
1/2 cup shortening
2 cups white sugar
1 cup cold water
3 1/2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon cloves
1 teaspoon nutmeg
Cook raisins in hot water for 20 minutes. After cooking raisins pour
them over the sugar and shortening and stir well and set aside. Let cool
overnight or until shortening hardens. The next day, add cold water and
rest of ingredients and pour into a well greased and floured 9x13 inch
pan and bake in a 350 degree oven for 45 minutes to 1 hour. Cool for a
few minutes and remove from pan. Old recipe, family favorite.
