NEWS IN BRIEF Sara Evans' Divorce Is Granted Fri. September 28.2007 6:35 PM EDT
After almost a year of back-and-forth allegations, Sara Evans and Craig Schelske were granted a divorce Friday (Sept. 28) by a judge in Hickman County, Tenn. Attorneys representing Evans and Schelske told 21st Judicial District Chancery Court Judge Robert E. Lee Davis that an agreement was reached that includes a joint custody plan for the couple's three children and a division of all marital assets. The 21st Judicial District includes Williamson County, where the couple lived and where Evans filed for divorce on Oct. 12, 2006. Since then, court documents filed on behalf of Evans and Schelske have included a series of allegations, including adultery. Their attorneys have submitted a court document stating that their clients will "have no further comment regarding any allegations of fault or misconduct alleged by either party." Evans and Schelske were married in 1993. Evans is scheduled to perform Saturday (Sept. 29) in Lawrenceburg, Ind. Martina McBride Revamps Holiday Album Fri. September 28.2007 6:35 PM EDT Martina McBride will re-release her holiday album, White Christmas, on Oct. 2 with all-new artwork and four additional songs. McBride went to the studio in July to record three new tracks -- "Hark! The Herald Angels Sing," "Winter Wonderland" and "Jingle Bells." The other addition is "Baby It's Cold Outside," which McBride overdubbed as a duet for the late Dean Martin's holiday album that was released last year. "When I got the chance to go back and add some other favorites I had missed, I was very excited," McBride said. "I knew I wanted to add the Dean Martin duet, and after performing our Christmas show for the past several seasons, it made me want to add crowd favorites like 'Winter Wonderland' and 'Hark! The Herald Angels Sing' and -- of course -- 'Jingle Bells.' How did I miss that one last time?" James Otto to Sing National Anthem at NASCAR Event Fri. September 28.2007 6:35 PM EDT MuzikMafia member James Otto will perform the national anthem prior to the Yellow Transportation 300 on Saturday (Sept. 29). The Busch series race at the Kansas Speedway in Kansas City will air on ESPN2 at 3 p.m. ET. Otto is gearing up for the release of a new Warner Bros. album which includes tracks separately produced by John Rich of Big & Rich and Jay DeMarcus of Rascal Flatts. The project features songs Otto co-wrote with a variety of writers, including DeMarcus, Rich, Big & Rich's Kenny Alphin and Motley Crue member Nikki Sixx. Garth Brooks Schedules Kansas City Concert Thu. September 27.2007 6:54 PM EDT Garth Brooks will perform a Nov. 14 concert at the Sprint Center in Kansas City. Rumors had circulated that he would be performing a concert in Kansas City to thank Wal-Mart for its past support in selling his CDs and DVDs. However, information appearing on Ticketmaster's Web site is the first indication that the concert tickets will be made available to the general public. According to Ticketmaster, the tickets will be priced at $25, but more information about ticket sales will be released Wednesday (Oct. 3). Brooks will release The Ultimate Hits, a package containing two CDs and one DVD, on Nov. 6. Bluegrass Veterans to Release Album as Dailey & Vincent Thu. September 27.2007 6:54 PM EDT Bluegrass veterans Jamie Dailey and Darrin Vincent have signed to Rounder Records and will release an album as Dailey & Vincent in January. Dailey is the former lead singer and guitarist for Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver, and Vincent most recently played guitar and mandolin and sang harmony vocals in Ricky Skaggs' band, Kentucky Thunder. Dailey has recorded with Dolly Parton and Rhonda Vincent and was a guest on Skaggs' Grammy-winning album, Brand New Strings. Vincent, the brother of bluegrass star Rhonda Vincent, won five Grammys as a member of Skaggs' band. He has also worked with Norah Jones, Emmylou Harris, Earl Scruggs, Bruce Hornsby, Vince Gill, John Hartford and Keith Urban. Rascal Flatts, Craig Morgan Set for Frosted Pink Special Thu. September 27.2007 6:54 PM EDT Rascal Flatts, Craig Morgan, Olivia Newton-John and Joss Stone will perform in Santa Monica, Calif., during Frosted Pink, a music and ice-skating special scheduled to air Oct. 14 on ESPN on ABC. Other musical performers include Anastacia, Kenny "Babyface" Edmonds and Heart. The program is aimed at raising awareness of breast cancer and available treatments. The special will also include appearances by Peggy Fleming, Sharon Osbourne, William Baldwin, Oksana Baiul, Sasha Cohen, Kristi Yamaguchi and Marg Helgenberger. It will re-air on the Style Network beginning on Oct. 22.
