Friends:

I have a project where I installed 36 IQ7 inverters a few years ago and
then another 12 on a different building about 2 years ago

On June 6 of this year a few of the 12 micro-inverters stopped producing.
Over the course of the next 30 days the rest of the 12 stopped producing.
When I checked on them the 12 were not communicating with the Envoy.

I went on site and found the power to the string had been on and off
intermittently due to a bad relay we have in the circuit. I bypassed the
relay and the micros would still not produce or communicate.

I called Enphase and they said there was noise on the power system that was
causing the problem. I pondered this for a while and figured the micros
should not stop producing if the communications went down. I called
Enphase back twice and they could not offer a solution. I tried again
today and the tech was able to determine there was a setting that when
changed allowed communications. He also said there was a low DC resistance
that indicates an arc fault. He was able to correct both issues and the 12
are now communicating and producing.

The problem is over so I don’t want to put a lot of thought into this but
my curiosity won’t let me stop thinking about this issue. I feel compelled
to write to the list because if anyone experiences this problem they might
benefit from what I learned.

Have any of you experienced this?
