Mick,

It can be made to work, yes, I have done a few, 48V, but same idea. But it’s
sub optimal mixing brands.

Given how low cost the EG4 inverters are, like the 6000XP I’m telling my
clients upgrade it all and be done with it, and go up to 48V. I’m presently
doing that with a DR1512 dual power board I put in 18 years ago. The L16’s were
a couple years overdue for replacement, and for extra low cost, put an EG4
6000XP in and be done with it. Tie in the remote monitoring and then can have a
really good view on the entire system and the individual batteries.

Subject: [RE-wrenches] EG4 battery OK with Magnum electronics?

Hi, Mechanix~ A longtime client has a Magnasine 4024 inverter/charger, PT-100
charge controller, BMK battery monitoring kit & the ARC Advanced Remote with
4.0 firmware.
He'd like to upgrade from L-16 floodies to five of the EG4 LL24V 200 AH
batteries in a cabinet.

I've reviewed the EG4 info for care & feeding, alongside various menus in the
Advanced Remote manual, and it looks like the Magnum setting ranges are
compatible. Before shipping out the money,
I'd like to know any feedback from the Wrenches about how things are working
when these product families are combined.

At times I've noticed strange behavior with the Magnasine inverters during
charge cycles. As I recall, the units jump from Bulk to Float soon after
generator driven charging gets under way. For clients with old or compromised
lead acid floodies, I've occasionally set Float and Bulk to the same target
voltage. These are off grid setups where the generator noise keeps the client
aware that charge is underway. Most of these clients don't have the generator
automated, which is also true for my 2025 EG4 customer.

I won't try that "Float @ Bulk voltage" trick with lithium, of course. Any &
all war stories would be welcomed. As always, "The Wrench List is the Bomb!"
