If I understand it correctly, the K3 relay is being powered into the off  mode indicating it’s a BMS issue as it’s getting power to do that.
And since it appears to happen either while charging or under load, which should eliminate high volt issues, again it seems like a BMS problem.
How to deal with it if the company is telling you to pound sand?
The options are to modify it, or replace it with another brand Bms or replace the whole battery.

When you factor in your time/money and need for reliability vs how inexpensive these batteries, I think it’ll point to the solution.

I once was at an installation by others doing a T/S with a single OB Radian & 2 - FM 100s that worked & then did not work. In removing the front door the FM 100 s Woke up briefly & then off as I was tracing wires it happened again. I tapped/ knocked on the GS box  & the FMs briefly woke up agin & turned off. At the same time I heard a slight “dizzith” crackle or a short arc sound. The sound was so quiet if anything had been running ie: fans etc I wouldn’t have heard it.
Started to do a wire tug test carefully & discovered that both of the negative wire terminals had not been tightened down for the battery negative conductors at the shunt terminals. Good case for  having taped the shaft on your long screw driver to get to the back of the GS box with the AC - DC breaker bar held to the left while Working hot.

I'd look for weak/loose internal control circuitry, especially connected to the K3 contractor or it's drive coil. Grab, pull, twist all connectors and see if the relay responds.

Good luck 🤞

What voltages are you using with it for ABS? Are you running open loop? Does the battery pretend to be Pylontech or some other protocol?

Maybe the BMS is tripping from high volts, even for a brief period.

The spec does say maximum of 56V.

Most all other 16S LiFePO4 can go much higher, in theory to:

3.65 max cell voltage = 58.4
3.5 vpc is 56V
3.45 vpc = 55.2V, my favorite sweet spot
3.4 vpc = 54.4 is preferred by a few vendors.

Is the Sol-Ark on the internet so you can look at voltage charts? If so, I can look at it if you want/can share it.

Absorb time is another story.

Hello Wrenches,

Has anyone seen this before? I’m dealing with a battery bank that keeps tripping out, opening the K3 contactor, randomly. I can’t find any pattern nor cause. Voltage is ok, load ok, temperature ok. It could be during the day under PV charge, or in the evening. The battery bank is paired with a SolArk 15k. Same behavior if it’s closed loop or open loop voltage-based control. SolArk tech support said it was not supported in closed loop. GSL tech support has not been useful and refuses to address the issue at hand.

This is close but not exact model.

I wrote about this same project Dec 2024 was able to recover a frozen and 18 months abandoned deeply discharged battery bank. Capacity wise, they are fine. This site is not continually occupied; I just don’t know how to get it to the point where the system is reliable. Tempting to bypass the K3 contactor, as it still would have a secondary one for safety.
