That feller sounds a little like me.  For us, Its a mile drive down the road for cell service.  I always have a sharp pencil handy.  We thought the internet was bad, here comes AI.

I occasionally get customers who do not want to be connected to the internet.  I have a customer who can only use his cell phone by hiking up to his "phone booth" in the woods above his house that has a seat with a shelf for his phone, pencil and paper.!!!

Oh OK I totally get it. I guess I just never realized there was
ever an offer to change the hardware out to an internet capable
upgrade or replacement. Thank you for clarifying. I'm really
appreciating remote monitoring options these days whether Midnite,
Outback(OpticsRe),Solaredge, or Sol-Ark. It's great to be able to
check on remote sites and even adjust settings from the phone or
    computer.

The issue is that the SL version does not contain an ethernet
port for the network and does not have the ability to utilize
Opticsre. So perhaps an SL version would be ideal to have in
your service vehicle but many have concluded that Opticsre is
priceless for supporting a client effectively especially for
most off grid sites that tend to be off the beaten path.

                Greetings Wrenches,

Perhaps I'm one of the few stuck with a handful of the
Mate3-SL units that was counting on Outback's promise
that they would be upgraded for free once the chips
became available but that promise was not carried on
to the new owners. I believe most all of the Flexpower
Radian panels AEE offloaded at the end shipped with
the SL version. They specifically just let me know
that that program was affiliated only with the Enersys
ownership and now that they are independent the
program is no longer offered. One more reason for me
to no longer offer their products unless for repairs
and like for like replacements. Midnite's timing on
the release of their new products is perfect! Only
thing missing now is an effective monitoring platform
                like Opticsre.
