Hi Mark,
I can address the Prostar question.
The Prostar can share the battery with the AC charging source, no need
to disconnect it when using that charger.
And as long as the AC charger and solar can keep the battery voltage
above the LVD threshold, the Prostar load circuit
will continue to power the loads.
The one thing you do not want to do is to connect the AC charger to the
Prostar PV input. PWM charge controllers
can not manipulate a "stiff" voltage source and that will cause
switching FET failure.

Folks,
I am going to build a stand-alone power supply for some telecom equipment.
I settled on MorningStar ProStar with their EMC-1.
A few questions:
For emergency operation with days of autonomy used up at or near LVD,
is it OK to parallel an AC powered battery charger such as IOTA onto
the battery? Or do I need to disconnect the charge controller from the
battery and load and connect a charger for the battery and a power
supply for the load?
Who is a good vendor for a skid mounted outdoor battery box that is a
step up from a Knack Box? Or is it really OK to put the AGMS inside
the same enclosure as the electronics? If in the same enclosure do I
still need some screened louver vents (I would think so).
Thanks,
Mark Frye
