Surface water levels can fluctuate and get dirty. Divert (pipe?) the creek water to a vessel (tank, trough,??), filter if necessary and pump from that. Using a creek as a reliable source for pumped water takes some careful thought and design. Your customers may have the experience. Might be a good idea to limit your scope of the project to providing the pump and power and let them handle the water to and from the pump. Use a low water shut off. Good luck.
