Just did one.
You have to do the math for costing the grid, a genset, and solar
direct.
The genset usually wins if the grid is not an option. You can easily
find/replace pumps that are not solar direct.
If you do the solar, you still need a genset and the electronics to
support it.
It is not an easy thing to do if someone is not living there. Most Ag
run big gensets if no grid is available.
If you can add the grid, it will improve the property for the owner. Not
sure about that in California anymore.
