I can't speak to longevity since it just came out, but EZ Solar just came out with a pretty interesting rail-mounted j-box option that clamps to the rails with hose clamps. It sounds strange at first, but in practice I found the samples to work very well.
Check out their JB-3 model. https://ezsolarproducts.com/jb-3/ <https://mailtrack.io/trace/link/4d59dfa6a10949790e994afe159cc0815d8d6dc0?url=https%3A%2F%2Fezsolarproducts.com%2Fjb-3%2F&userId=1613865&signature=569968a271fa537e> We have had good success with their JB-1 and JB-2 boxes for shingle and tile roofs, respectively. I can attest from lengthy experience in solar pool heating that stainless steel hose clamps hold up very well in pressure pipe applications on roofs. I can't see why they wouldn't work in this application. I wonder about the grounding of all metallic parts and if an inspector might ding you for the hose clamps, but I think that would be a stretch to cite that as a code violation or a safety issue.
