I have been dealing with a legacy Enphase system ever since the installation about 11-12 years ago. And I stopped using Enphase after the massive failure rate of these first gen M190 inverters. Almost all of them have been replaced at least once, the good news is I only have about -15- of the originals waiting to fail out of -113-.
As some of you know RMA replacements were at first the original M190 (i.e. the type daisy chained w/ "internal" trunk cable), then the M215 with a dedicated trunk cable, sent with adapters to mate with the M190, lastly the IQ7 w/ its own adapters to the M190 and M215. So my system is 208, 3-phase. I just swapped out -5- more of the M190's with newer generation models and am getting "ac out of range" errors on half of the micros that were working fine before the swap. The error is not unique to any one string. I wonder if all this replacing with multi-gen micros has created a phase imbalance. Enphase stresses keeping the phases balanced, but I don't see how they can follow their own advice mating all these different micros together. I am awaiting their response. Are the original M190s a true 3-phase output? Or are they smart enough internally to balance the phases through some sort of switching? The M215s and IQ7 series are 208 single phase, and the trunk cable is wired in a repeating connector-to-connector: Line A-B, A-C, B-C single phase arrangement for balancing. All thoughts welcome, thanks. -- *Kirk Herander / **kirkh@vermont.solar <kirkh@vermont.solar>* *Owner|Principal, VT Solar, LLC* *Celebrating our 31st Anniversary 1991-2022!!* *www.vermont.solar* <https://nam02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=www.vermontsolarnow.com&data=02%7C01%7C%7C9f0330d75a244870112408d685311841%7C84df9e7fe9f640afb435aaaaaaaaaaaa%7C1%7C0%7C636842843233477645&sdata=0NjyuKeQbEK6245SNnk8X4XnP9Q%2B%2BqtvcALkdDghvk4%3D&reserved=0> dba Vermont Solar Engineering 802.863.1202
