Jay:

I often struggle to remember all of the steps required to set up, connect to or
configure all of the various equipment I have to deal with, so I am
sympathetic. Typically just enough time elapses after a given procedure that I
completely forget what I did. What I do is keep notes in my Evernote app and
update those notes every time I revisit the procedure.

Usually I am navigating the SMA setup in order to configure a replacement
inverter to not require a neutral. This is because I am replacing a Sunny Boy
installed back when a neutral was not required and we did not run one.

The point I am making is I can share my notes on logging into a 41 series SMA
and setting the no-neutral configuration. Those notes are below. They may be
relevant to what your friend needs to do.

For 41 series:
Find SMAxxxx WiFi on your device.
Use password on back of manual or side of connection box to log in to WiFi.
You will be directed to another sign in. Think password for that is also on
manual or you will create one.
Every time you connect via WiFi you will eventual be directed to interface.
It’s slow. Instead easiest access is via 192.168.12.3.
Log on as installer.
If no neutral: set country standard to: UL1741/2016/240. Must completely power
cycle for settings to take.
