The 5ghz frequency is superior for high bandwidth activities within short range which in my opinion is not the case with inverter comms. The 2.4 ghz provides a superior connection at farther distances (which I find typical between inverter and router). The amount of data the inverter is sending and receiving is minimal and does not require much in the way of bandwidth.
