I recently finished an install with the Iron Edison of Colorado. The install was with their LFP 48v 400AH 20KWH battery. Here is a link below. They are plug and play with Schneider, others also?, and have a 16 year design life with better prices than Blue Ion. They also make the 30 year life NIFE (edison) battery. Nice to be able to buy them from the manufacturer in CO.

The time of OutBack and Schneider and all the others doing 48VDC is drawing to close. Enough already. Thank you for your service. The sooner the industry fully migrates to higher voltage DC (Tesla, LG Chem, BYD and others), the better. marco FROM: RE-wrenches [mailto:re-wrenches-boun...@lists.re-wrenches.org] ON BEHALF OF Peter Giroux SENT: Wednesday, September 12, 2018 3:03 PM TO: RE-wrenches SUBJECT: Re: [RE-wrenches] Any thoughts on this approach to adding battery backup to an existing grid tie system will be appreciated. Ken We have had terrific success with AC Coupling. Yes there are some differences from Dc Coupled systems but if built properly, customer is willing to learn how to use it and maintain it and you put the correct relays in to shut off the string inverters if battery voltage gets to high, great. If you have a customer that refuses to exercise the system, not check the batteries if they are fla's and overloads it when the power goes down then not so cool. We have customers that power shave with it, have had backup power for days until the power came back on as they monitored the loads and were judicious about use. Ray is right in the sense the customer needs to learn how to use the system or they can royally screw it up ( yes we have had two do this, one learned the other not ). The Radians have been great work horses for this application, sadly as Ray mentioned Outback has moved away from it as a primary solution. peter giroux ASAE Atlanta ----- Original Message ----- FROM: Ken Schaal [3] TO: RE-wrenches [4] ; Ken Schaal [5] SENT: Wednesday, September 12, 2018 8:11 PM SUBJECT: [RE-wrenches] Any thoughts on this approach to adding battery backup to an existing grid tie system will be appreciated. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eyhkIfS5Z-Q [6] ------------------------- _______________________________________________ List sponsored by Redwood Alliance List Address: RE-wrenches@lists.re-wrenches.org [7] Change listserver email address & settings: http://lists.re-wrenches.org/options.cgi/re-wrenches-re-wrenches.org [8] List-Archive: http://www.mail-archive.com/re-wrenches@lists.re-wrenches.org/maillist.html [9] List rules & etiquette: www.re-wrenches.org/etiquette.htm [10] Check out or update participant bios: www.members.re-wrenches.org [11] -- Links: ------ [1] http://members.sti.net/offgridsolar/ [2] mailto:offgridso...@sti.net [3] mailto:k...@commonwealthsolar.com [4] mailto:re-wrenches@lists.re-wrenches.org [5] mailto:cwsol...@gmail.com [6] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eyhkIfS5Z-Q [7] mailto:RE-wrenches@lists.re-wrenches.org [8] http://lists.re-wrenches.org/options.cgi/re-wrenches-re-wrenches.org [9] http://www.mail-archive.com/re-wrenches@lists.re-wrenches.org/maillist.html [10] http://www.re-wrenches.org/etiquette.htm [11] http://www.members.re-wrenches.org
