Hi Wrenches, We recently installed 12,000 Ahr of this GS battery at some cell tower sites. If the cycle life on the specs matches real life then this will be an excellent battery technology. The high-temperature operation characteristics look very good as well.
A couple of things I'll say about the battery and the install; these seem to be a very well thought out battery system. I prefer this system to large monoblock batteries because they come as a 2V cell that is manageable for 2 guys into a very remote 4WD site that we often find ourselves. Lifting equipment is not required. The steel shelves are the most difficult part of the system to handle. They come with a cell level monitoring system, that can be networked connected. I haven't been able to see what info is available from that. I also like the built in breaker that is designed to bolt onto the shelf chassis. They are also a very "safe" battery in the fact that there is rubber insulation sleeve that you can slip on the intercell bussing, another plastic clip that snaps over the bussing as well as the lexan shield that stands off of the terminals. If you do specify these batteries, be sure to add plenty of labor time for the installation process. It took a 2 man team about 3 days to install 4 stacks + monitoring. I guess we will see how they hold up to real life operation...
