Hi Wrenches, Occasionally, we need to up-size the inverter output circuit conductor sizes (on the inverter AC side) to avoid excessive voltage drop. For example, we typically use # 10 conductors for a microinverter branch circuit but occasionally need to up-size to # 8s. A similar scenario might apply when we have inverters out on on a ground mount array and then have really long AC runs back to the main service panel location.
Do you think the exception in NEC 690.45 to up-sizing the equipment grounds applies to these inverter output circuits or not? It is hard to tell whether 690.45 is meant to only include PV source and PV output circuits: [image: Inline image 1] [image: Inline image 2] Best, August *August Goers* Luminalt Energy Corporation o: 415.641.4000 www.luminalt.com _______________________________________________ List sponsored by Redwood Alliance List Address: RE-wrenches@lists.re-wrenches.org Change listserver email address & settings: http://lists.re-wrenches.org/options.cgi/re-wrenches-re-wrenches.org List-Archive: http://www.mail-archive.com/re-wrenches@lists.re-wrenches.org/maillist.html List rules & etiquette: www.re-wrenches.org/etiquette.htm Check out or update participant bios: www.members.re-wrenches.org
