I have this same situation with my off grid well, I have a grundfos sqf5-2 and the yield wound up being .25 gpm. Originally I ran it on 2- Astronergy 235 and made a timing system using a sprinkler timer and a midnite kid controller it was tough to control the production as the power varied and was limited to daylight hours. I ran ac power to the control box and now use a simple AC wall (pump draw is 400 watts) timer that up to seven daily cycles and control the pump times calculated on the recapture rate of the well which varies with the water table. I also use inline water gauges to help determine the amount of water I can pump per cycle because the amount drops so much in the summer. I went with the controlled time method over restriction as it was going to have to be extreme in my situation, there is a product out there I read about the dole valve that can regulate the production to 1GPM http://www.pumpsandwells.com/mm5/PDFs/Dole%20Valves.pdf without messing with the power directly.
