In my PV/battery training sessions for fire departments, we recommend CO2
extinguishers. Fire departments almost always have at least one; they don't
usually carry halon. I leave acid/alkaline electrolyte neutralizer with
each battery installation and then just recommend to the homeowner a fire
extinguisher and eye wash station.
