FYI. If you have any questions, please direct them to Larry Sherwood, off-list.

Greetings!

Work is beginning on revisions to the 2017 National Electrical Code. This is your opportunity to collaborate on proposals to make changes to this important code.

Formal code proposals by paper are due October 3, 2014 and on-line due November 7, 2014. For the past several cycles, the PV Industry Forum, Solar ABCs and recently the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) Standards and Codes Working Group have coordinated PV-related proposals. By vetting and developing proposals with diverse stakeholders, better consensus proposals with a better chance of success are submitted into the formal revision process. I will facilitate this discussion with the objective of allowing all views to be heard.

You can participate in this process in two ways:
  1. Submit code change proposal or ideas. Put your proposals in a word file and send to me at [email protected]. I will post all the proposals at the following Google Drive site linked here. A few proposals have already been posted to this site. There is a summary of the proposals included in a word file.
  2. Attend an April Meeting to discuss code change proposals and ideas. The meeting will be April 9-10 at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory in Golden, Colorado. Click here for more details and to register. If you have already registered, you do not need to register again.  At this meeting, we will develop a strategy and timeline for proposal development for the 2017 code cycle. At least one more face-to-face meeting will be scheduled in the August/September timeframe as proposals are finalized.
I look forward to your participation in this code development process.

Sincerely,

Larry Sherwood
