Hi there Jesse, I've found that the Rolls and Trojan battery books are pretty informative and helpful for those new to batteries.
This is probably not exactly what you intended, but I read and really liked this book: The Battery: How Portable Power Sparked a Technological Revolution, by Henry Schlesinger. It's more about the history and function of batteries, not specifically RE or off-grid at all. But interesting and well-written, nonetheless. Ross
