Dan, I am with you on that one....standby power consumption makes me think of battery sulphation. The 30 watts Ray mentioned for the Rennai would be a deal breaker for me.
Hopefully I'll hear from a few others regarding standby losses...doesn't seem very important what consumption may be during firing as it doesn't really represent very much actual time.
