We do lots of off-grid and battery based systems having arrays over 200 feet
from inverter. We have had very good success with the higher DC voltage
Midnight Solar charge controllers which you may want to consider. This may
also be a good candidate for putting a Sunny Boy at the remote array and
doing AC coupling which we have found as another way to deal with a long
wire run to a distant array.

Subject: [RE-wrenches] XW 600 VDC Controller?

Friends,

Have a customer that needs to put the array 420' from the batteries. Have
never really wanted to wire an off grid customer for hi voltage DC but the
price difference on that much copper has me considering it. Anyone used the
XW-MPPT 80-600 and been happy with it? I did a search of the archive and
only found 1 post with my keywords in it.

Thanks again,
