I have eight P1 micro installs in operation. So far so good though the range of the wireless communication system can be iffy especially when dealing with metal roofs, of which we have a lot in these here parts of Hawaii. The fix is to relocate the CDD (their data logger) antenna closer to the array using a 15 meter cable.
I think the graphics for the on-line monitoring system are clean and easy to understand. Finally, I've seen the 250 micro put out as much as 259 watts and the 300 go as high as 312 watts with a 96-cell mod. marco From: re-wrenches-boun...@lists.re-wrenches.org [mailto:re-wrenches-boun...@lists.re-wrenches.org] On Behalf Of Jason Szumlanski Sent: Friday, May 31, 2013 5:12 AM To: RE-wrenches Subject: Re: [RE-wrenches] Power One Microinverters I think you misread my email. That's my point. Why not eliminate the gateway?! Of course, the same could be said of the Enphase Envoy if they embedded the gateway functionality in the inverter and just used powerline communication to get to the Internet via the router with a simple/cheap powerline->ethernet gateway. I'm sure they thought of this and it just comes down to economic viability. I'm starting to see an uptick in these being sold by competitors. One thing that would be nice is if they eliminated the gateway, allowing each inverter to connect to the Internet by Wi-Fi. This would eliminate the extra piece of hardware, and the possibility of the gateway device failing in the future. Understandably, this would probably increase the inverter price, but for small installations, it would be more cost effective I would think. Marco was in-progress on a job with them and was going to get back to me off list after completion. I'm weary about the wireless communication because wireless always seems to break down at one point or another over the long haul. However, I should reiterate that I have no experience with this product yet. However, their monitoring device called "Aurora CDD" communicates wirelessly with the microinverters compared to power line communications with Enphase. They also seem to be at a higher price point compared to Enphase although they are higher wattage at 250 and 300 Watts.
