Perhaps ask the AHJ what a listed box entails?

I have presented numerous AHJ's with a multitude of boxes and never had any
questioned. Vent with fan, inlet air on diagonal lower side from fan, sloped
top, minor containment, clear Plexi glass top, jug of neutralizer = no issue

Or appeal to his supervisor for "clarification" you might be surprised how
quickly his request changes.

Subject: Re: [RE-wrenches] Listed Battery Enclosure?

I agree, Brian; especially when the battery system is large. It's important
to design the room so it can be in compliance with NEC 480.9. (A)
Ventilation, (B) Guarding live parts. The locked door qualifies, and (C)
Working space.
