Thanks for all the info. This group rocks! J ----- Original Message ----- From: Ray Walters To: RE-wrenches Sent: Thursday, November 03, 2011 9:17 PM Subject: Re: [RE-wrenches] Voltage Regulator
You could almost run a 22 v nominal system, if you used 2 v cells. Charge controllers like the FM60 and the Classic have enough adjustment in the bulk/ float settings to make it work, and that would be closer to the 20 - 28 v dc window you're looking for. (20 v would be comparable to 10.9 on a 12 v system or complete discharge, while 28v would be 15.3 v on a 12v system, plenty of room to EQ) However there are a lot of comm systems that have been running off grid for decades, so I really think you just need to take another look at the required specs. Solar Converters in Canada make a voltage regulator that will stabilize a battery voltage, as well as up and down DC to DC converters. Also, I'm up in Denver, and don't mind driving (buy my gas) if you ever need any help. Even though it will operate either 12vdc or 24vdc, he would like to maintain 24vdc +/- 4v. Any ideas out there would be helpfull. Jeremy All Solar Inc.
