This was not one of the main inverter companies we use but some Asian company I remember.... Vaguely... I remember that it was kind of odd but not a real bad idea. Most inverters do have an internal DC bus so this isn't totally out of the question. If I could see a list of exhibitors from past SPI's, I might be able to remember. boB > On Thu Oct 27th, 2011 11:35 AM CDT Gary Willett wrote: > >> William: >> >> Like you, I'm unaware of an inverter that functions as grid >> tied/interactive, to which a battery bank can be added later to the same >> product. >> >> My guess is that Sunny Boy(s) would be installed first, followed by Sunny >> Island(s) if battery backup is wanted later. >> >> Same thing could be done with Schneider/Xantrex GT grid tied, followed later >> with an XW inverter/charger. >> >> Regards, >> >> >> Gary Willett, PE >> Icarus-Engineering LLC >> >> Icarus Solar Services LLC >> >> >> On 10/27/2011 00:20, William Miller wrote: >>> Friends: >>> >>> Is there such a thing as an inverter that does not need batteries today, >>> but next week you can add batteries?
