The only choice is metal, or maybe tile. Use a water dump arrangement to get the first flow to catch the dirt off the roof that is in the first flow.
You're on an island so salt is a consideration also, as you know that gets everywhere. It's a lot easier to put panels on a metal roof than on tile, at least from my point of view.
