William,
I believe that I recently noticed the same behavior with the global
equalize. It was overcast, and the MX 60 was bulk charging at about 3
amps. After initiating a global equalize from the Mate, I noticed that
the MX 60 displayed Vbat > Absorb, then after a couple maybe three
minutes it would go into the equalizing mode. A couple minutes later,
the MX 60 would sweep, display Vbat > Absorb. And repeat .... It was
"off task" more than on. Not very efficient. A C40 would have
contributed more to the equalization. Outback tech support said this
was normal.
When you are only getting 3-amps into a 400-amphour battery, the solar
system contribution is negligible anyway. None-the-less, poor
performance is not expected from first rate gear.

Friends:
We have been noticing that when equalizing generator fed VFX systems
with MX60 charge controllers, even though we initiate a global EQ
command, the MX60s stop EQing in short order. I was told by Outback
this is normal. This does not seem right to me.
Also, we seem unable to force a bulk cycle with the MX60s on a sunny
day, no generator. They go into bulk and then drop out in a matter of
minutes.
Have any of you experienced this anomalous behavior? Have you found any
solutions?
Thanks in advance.
