Is this a propane generator? If it is, all propane generators that we have dealt with (Kohler included) have a 12 v solenoid on the propane regulator where the propane line enters and is attached to the generator. There should be two wires going to this solenoid 12+ and common. When the generator starts the solenoid opens (12 v power is present) and when the generator stops, well, you get it.
