This dosen't seem to have gone out. Bob I could also add electrolyte to the cells with the lowest SG after all this, but how much to add is a real crap shoot. Can anyone offer guidance on adding electrolyte to compensate for spillage?
Hi Alan, The process is called "acid Balancing" the battery and it is done in exactly these circumstances. I have had to do it on occasion on the industrial cells that I work on.I had a 6 month old 4000" battery ruined from exactly what you describe. That one had to be replaced. Then they did it again, but we could balance that one,and bring it back. You need access to electrolyte in the 1.400 sg range, do you have any motive power (fork lift) battery shops near you? That's the best place to get it. If they will sell it to you at all. You really can't do it with standard gravity acid, it dilutes too much and would take forever. If you want to do it I can tell you how, but it involves frequent charges and is easier to do in a shop on grid power than on solar. Just the same, if they are not too far away you could do it over multiple trips and days and get it done. I am betting that getting the pack to a shop is a non starter....
