We have done several of these conversions due to grid finally reaching a past client's location.   These inverters weres still in great shape but failing batteries.

Since the client did not want to spend over $2000 to replace a large battery bank now that they had grid power, we usually removed the batteries, replaced the off-grid inverter with a Fronius inverter, and re-worked the combiner box to tie multiple low voltage strings together to up the voltage.

We have allowed a trad-in value for the older inverter(s) which we use for "loaners" when another client has a failure and needs to stay operational for several weeks while their inverter is sent back for repair.  We now have a nice collection of different inverters of different voltages that are in great shape and cost us very little.

However, we also are seeing more interest in battery backup from people who have been on the grid - go figure!
