On the off chance that somebody here is interested in the new Suntour
branded rear derailleur, here are my short term observations.
Short story, seems to work fine.
Longer version:
Ordered from Harris Cyclery on a Sun. evening. Arrived on the west coast
Wed. afternoon. Well done Harris.
Fairly nice looking piece, no black paint, rear plate of the parallelogram
looks like dark colored stamped steel. Surface of the cage not polished,
looks a bit unfinished. Weight ~233gr (not that anybody should care).
Length of cage ~76 or 77mm (c-t-c on the pulleys). Traditional cable
routing (as opposed to current XT low profile style).
Said to accommodate a 39t capacity and a 34t max cog.
Went on my "country" bike with 46/30 crank, 11-32 9sp cassette, and
dura-ace 9sp dt shifter (which I put in indexed mode).
Fifteen mile mixed terrain ride (~50/50) on Sat, ~65mi road ride on Sun.
Gears worked fine, no drama no troubles. Granted I am probably not what you
would call a demanding user, I typically don't shift under high load and I
don't mind if it takes a beat to complete a shift, so of course YMMV.
