I must be insane, but I'm going to put this out here.

No matter how much I romanticize - add a fancy new paint job - try every
tire - convert to 650b - change bar wrap 6 times - I just plain preferred
my Hilsen.

I could go on and on into the this and the that...but the reality is, for
my size, Rivendell doesn't make a 700c bike that has cantis and fits a Rock
n' Road 43 tire. Every canti equipped bike places me into the 26 or 650b
size. Can't change my 5'8". I just have to let go of my canti brake bias.

YES, a Legolas comes in 57cm 700c with cantis (and I love them)...but 40 is
max tire size and I have a CX bike with 40s that doesnt take racks. No room
duplicate bikes.
YES, a 54 Hunqapillar is close, but I love my M-bars and the 58.4 tt is
just too long. I rode this set up while visiting Rivendell.

Unless I've overlooked something, the Hilsen did what I wanted with the
concession of having to squeeze/deflate fatter rubber to clear the brakes.

SO with that in mind.

Your:
57 Hilsen Frame & Fork (wider clearance later model) with King Headset?
Silver side pulls
700c 8/9 speed compatible wheels / tires (Rock n Roads a bonus!)

For my:
56 All Rounder Frame & Fork with King headset?
Tektro Cantis
26" 8/9 speed compatible wheels / tires (plenty to choose from)

I'm in no hurry.
I want to keep it in the states.
I would rather trade than sell.

Contact me off list.

Cheers,
Brad
