ERD = Effective Rim Diameter. You need to know the ERD of a rim you're building 
into a wheel (along with hub flange spacing, number of spoke holes and type of 
wheel you want to build (cross 2 ("x2"), etc.)) in order to get the right spoke 
length. Otherwise, you never need to know it. 

BSD = Bead Seat Diameter. Wheel size, defining the tire size it takes.
