Right. That was the route we were planning to take, and I had pored over that very website. But when we got there it turned out to be pouring down rain (the only rainstorm all year) and we didn't think our smooth touring tires were up to the job. That's still the route I want to take, down the Lost Coast. What I want to know is how to get back again without backtracking. Something to the east of Highway 1, perhaps? I'd like to avoid the section ON Highway 1-- there's quite a nasty narrow twisty section in the southerly part with lots of traffic. It's a country road, but with freeway traffic, so it's unpleasant and dangerous.
