The Quickbeam is still my preferred bike.  Simple, predictable, 
comfortable.  At times challenging and painful.  But always a consistent 
yardstick.  Always patient and encouraging when I'm lacking. 

You can set it up a myriad of ways - change and add gearing options. 

All that being said, it's definitely a niche within the narrow-but-widening 
niche of Rivendell ride enthusiasts. Way back when the Coleman Green QB's 
were announced and sold out, I think it was done so with the knowledge that 
it would always be a bicycle with more limited demand. The SO was just the 
same model with a different manufacturing facility (Taiwan rather than 
Panasonic).  There were never consistent offerings of the QB - they were 
always limited run machines.   No reason to expect the SO to continue that.
