I have the lighter chukkas, but I think that a pair of these would make an
excellent riding boot for rough stuff and camping. The soles are not so
aggressive as to keep pedal spikes from working, and damn if they're not
the greatest thing once they're broken in for all-day wear. Also, you can't
kick logs in your campfire with a pair of Tevas.
