Christopher that is a good question. I am trying to keep costs down and I have a bike that I can transfer over 95% of the parts which includes a great set of wheels.
As for carrying anything, I use a porteur rack with a Wald basket plus if I need extra carrying power I use my Burley Travoy trailer. No rear racks or saddle sacks for me.They may be great for others, I personally don't like it. I bought a Betty Foy for my wife and she loves her 650's with Hetres and I can easily just buy a Sam Hilborne to keep costs down but there is something so much nicer about the Hilsen. I have a hard time with the sloping top tube with the Sam. This bike as I have mentioned in other posts, is going to be a picnic bike and nothing more. My wife and I like to ride our bikes to some waterfront and bring some camping chairs and eat the Bento boxes that she has prepared for the day (She is Japanese and a great cook, me on the other hand would just order KFC and call it a day). As I said if this doesn't pan out, I will come up with another plan but thanks for the question. It does help me rethink some of what my wants vs my needs vs the availability of what I think I want.
