If you can find the older steel axle models the XT's are great. The newer versions have aluminum axles and smaller ball bearings. Actually the LX is probably a better hub these days for touring. Another fair -priced good touring hubset is the Ambrosio Zenith. They are popular in Europe and use cartridge bearings. A little harder to get though.
