Patrick, here in VT. we are not rain rejuvenated but rather rain deluged,
with 4 consecutive months of record rainfall. We headed out for a ride
late this morning and about 4 miles in it started to sprinkle. My stoker
became anxious but we forged ahead. The sun came back out but about 10
miles in the skies darkened and again my stoker became anxious. I said the
bike has fenders, you have a rain jacket and I don't care; so what's your
point. When the skies opened and poured on us, she said she didn't want to
get hit by lightening. I said I had never heard of a cyclist hit by
lightening. She said it happens to golfers all the time. I said, trying
to add some humor to the dismal situation, that golfers stand around with
rods in their hands, of course they get hit. Cyclist move to fast.
Unfortunately riding down a dirt road in the country doesn't offer a lot
of good options in a thunder storm. We were about two miles from a covered
bridge, where we encountered a couple of friendly Norwegians, also seeking
shelter.
