RAGBRAI was awesome!!! The weather was gorgeous, the route was short, and the hills were a piece of cake. I saw hundreds of beautiful steel bikes and Rivendell was well represented. The first Riv that I spotted was a Heron; it was stopped on the side of the road early on the first day. I saw two Atlantis; the red one from Connecticut?, and the other was yellow. I saw Joyce on her Ram riding with two other Rams. I talked with two other orange Ram riders; one of them rode a San Marcos while his chainstay was getting replaced at Rivendell and it was interesting to hear from someone that had ridden both bikes There were two Redwoods, one green and the other red. I rode with a guy on an old Romulus and I also visited with Bob from Louisiana on his Long and Low. There was a Legolas and a blue 1994 Riv with touring geometry and light tubing. I ran into Tim on his Road and Bob came along on his Bike Friday a few minutes later. I was glad to get a chance to see all of the Rivs and it was a pleasure visiting with their owners.
My Soma San Marcos performed flawlessly and it climbs hills like a goat. Next year I am going to ride the Atlantis to see how it compares.
