Hey Gang:

So I moved apartments, 20 blocks diagonally, if you use the pythagorean
theorem, down a subtle but noticeable hill. I decided to do some or most of
the moving with my Hilsen. I borrowed Smitty's trailer, a tastefully
converted burley kid hauler.

The riding really wasn't much to write home about--I would joke about how
the load in the trailer was anti-planing, sucking up momentum as I tried to
climb, or just make forward progress. I'm sure I got a fair number of
stares as I lugged progressively weirder things down the street (floorlamps
are interesting hauling).

Today I did the last haul that really mattered--my cat came over to the new
place. I'm not sure if I'll have many opportunities to ride with my cat, so
it was a special thing.

Blah blah blah moving, the point of this email was to say, after countless
rides back and forth, pulling empties up the hill and flying down with
literally domestic components, I took the trailer off and went grocery
shopping. Threw some junk in the saddlebag, and rode to the co-op to get
ingredients for that most special of meals, "the first dinner in the
apartment".

I won't mention the chance running into a pretty face, and some nice
conversation for a few blocks, but I will mention that even after slogging
all day, riding home with a heavy load of groceries (damn, that beer is
heavy), I had a grin on my face because my bike rode SO NICELY.

Cheers

cc

PS: This also counts as a big public Thank You to Smitty for lending me his
trailer. Andy, I owe you dinner, but since you're a family guy, I guess I
owe your family dinner.

Pictures proved some of it might have occurred:
