Don't know Loon Lake itself, but you're not too far from Plattsburgh (and 
the ferry to Grand Isle, VT), which gets you to a great bicycling spot. 
 There's a rail trail that runs from Grand Isle into Burlington VT (a 
really cool town), via a Bike Ferry sponsored by the Burlington-based (and 
awesome) cycling advocacy group, Local Motion.  The ferry only runs from 
10-6 Fri-Sun during the Summer, but if you can somehow make a day-trip of 
it, I'd say it's well worth it.  There's good camping in Grand Isle State 
Park (if you want to make a real adventure out of it). Check out Local
