Don't know Loon Lake itself, but you're not too far from Plattsburgh (and the ferry to Grand Isle, VT), which gets you to a great bicycling spot. There's a rail trail that runs from Grand Isle into Burlington VT (a really cool town), via a Bike Ferry sponsored by the Burlington-based (and awesome) cycling advocacy group, Local Motion. The ferry only runs from 10-6 Fri-Sun during the Summer, but if you can somehow make a day-trip of it, I'd say it's well worth it. There's good camping in Grand Isle State Park (if you want to make a real adventure out of it). Check out Local Motion and ferry info at: http://www.localmotion.org/programs/islandline/bike-ferry
Good luck!
