Some SWA agents must be sustaining a myth about a $50 charge for a "bicycle,"
as I have had an agent say so once. I said, "no, it is within the limits and I
fly with it all the time on your airline." The manager came over, they looked
up the rule, and I was good to go. Maybe like in college "if my professor is 15
minutes late we can leave," which is a widely-held myth among undergraduates
but totally untrue.

Sometimes I have been asked and they have me sign a waiver. That's fine. I have
thought to respond "exercise equipment" or "push chair" but I usually say
bicycle because I know I am in the right in terms of policy. Totally +1 for
Skycap. Last vestige of the old way to fly before security lines, and TOTALLY
worth the few bucks tip.
