You are like my brother Peter, ex-LA, who buys, builds, rides, and flips dozens of bikes every year: he has a vast, vast experience of marques and models, but despite the volume manages to maintain a very high margin, never spending spends more than a few hundred for a top-end complete bike and, usually, far less than this for quality merchandise. (Recently: three mtb wheelsets including one pair with $500+ White or DT or Hugi or somesuch hubs, all high end, for, what, $180?) I, on the other hand, buy few and relatively dear, ride, then sell cheap -- good thing my volume is 1/50 of his! He is, by my habits, surprisingly detached from his bikes; it is only one in, say, 50 that becomes a keeper.
Me, in contrast: I buy, ride, evaluate, say "meh", sell, but when I come to something I like, I stick to it forever and disdain to experiment further. My two customs are my "forevers", tho' the Ram is within a half-mile-to-one-mile thereof.
