Done this in the past, combinations of clear and amber shellac get hues in
the middle of the two. Makes sense.
First coats soak up most, so I used clear first for a few coats, then 2
coats of amber to add a little amber hue.
Newbaum's is thicker, which means more coats than Tressostar or that nifty
Japanese cloth tape Riv used to sell (which was/is my favorite).
So, 5 or 6 total coats got a nice thick coating of shellac without too much
plastic sort of feel.
I was going for a military green sort of hue, got pretty close. And of
course a rainy first ride was fit as it muddled up everything. Just fine
with me.
